Research Collaborations

The DBIS Group is conducting research in collaboration with various other faculty and research institutions (on campus and off campus).

Computer Security
In collaboration with the Computer Security Laboratory at the CS Department, we are studying several aspects of security policies. This includes the development of security specification languages for different types of applications and scenarios with a particular forcus on highly heteroegeneous and distributed computing enviroments. Further aspects that are studied in this framework are the dynamics of security policies, systems and trust relationships among components (services and agents) in distributed computing environments.

Software Engineering
We are studing information system infrastructures that support the software configuration process. Our particular interest is in developing trusted mediation services in which a client can specify trust preferences on the software configuration information to be obtained from Web sources through a mediated framework. Current results include (1) an infrasturucture for managing trust information about Web source and data and providing using trust agencies and trust brokers, (2) a trust model which can be used by clients to transparently specify trust requirements on data to be obtained from data sources, and (3) mediation algorithms which are used by the mediator in order to integrate information from data sources according to trust preferences specified by a client.
